best procrastination EVER

Soooo i've been avoiding doing my taxes. . . yesterday i heard the guillemots on MBE on KCRW. I've been trying to get their CD for a while now. later that night, as i was just starting to work on my taxes, i was suddenly inspired to go catch thier show at the hotel cafe. i called random people, was suddenly inspired to call KW and ask her if she had heard the live show that day. "when should be leave? now?!?!" 5 minutes and a whole outfit later i was out the door and on my way. they gave a pretty amazing show. these guys were amazing musicians. . . the lead guy played 3 keyboards and a piano at the same time. The bassist played a REAL bass. the electric guitarist used a CORDLESS DRILL with his guitar. (i'm sure that's not a new thing, but the first time i'd seen it.) the lead singer has a voice like crushed velvet. and i swear that the band was possesed by the spirit of music. it was kind of transporting. i think i am now a groupie. i emailed the band with pictures i took. what a nerd i am. oh well. maybe they'll be my friends. =) but it was WAY more fun than staring at the excel spreadsheet. and i got the CD that I haven't been able to find for only 10 bucks. it was a good night. they even had good beer.

OTHER ITEMS FROM THE WEEKEND. . .

Sweeney Todd closed this weekend. ah, so sad, but at least things will return to normal, (maybe??) RR, who played the Judge, made this incredible meat pie cake. Image hosting by Photobucket
Sam spent a lot of the evening singing at the baby grand piano. i spent the evening talking to random cast members and making impromtu Sangrias out of red wine and the berries they had in the fruit salad, sugar from the frosting in the cake and a dash of perrier. How's that for creative? BTW, the FOOD was out of control. . . RR is an amazing chef. And he has the coolest bathroom floor ever. Image hosting by Photobucket

CR from Elac through an 80s party and it was the most fun i've had in a long time. Like being back in highschool. The highlight of the evening was "off the wall". Hadn't heard the song in so long, I forgot it existed, but we all went wild. If they had played the song "white lines" the night would have been perfect. ALAS, i do not have pictures, but i DID wear a member's only jacket. (SC's) AND Doc Martin's (mine)

AT had a post-wedding bridal shower (she eloped). When she said her thank you's at the end, we all started crying. Most moving bridal shower ever. I bought her a very embarrasing present. No, i won't tell you what it was. Well, maybe if you're REALLY nice to me. Image hosting by Photobucket
