glad that

blogger has this post via email-and-phone thing.  i’ve been away from the computer so being able to at least post to the blog makes me feel somehow like i’m not totally by myself, even though i am.  and today i sent an email from my phone – i hope it worked! anyhow, i have to leave tomorrow and i’m so sad. i don’t want to.  but i guess i have to. sigh. i haven’t taken a vacation by myself in years and i realize that i miss them.  i used to take a solo vacation once a year at least.  i think i should start that habit again.  anyhow. . i’m so sad to have to leave.  bye pretty little island, i’ll miss you!  (although i won’t miss being constantly covered in sunscreen and bugspray!)

So i decided to try not bringing clothes with me and buying some here at the local thrift store. so today i went hunting around for thrift stores and the one i finally found benefits this japanese community center. so there was a bit of really funky clothing barely worn. found everything i needed for the week for only 28 dollars. and it went to a good cause. and i didnt support rampant capitalism and wastefulness. i feel good. and it was fun. also opted NOT To rent a car and use the bus. i feel so eco-friendly! AND i Saved 74 bucks! dvj would be proud. :)

So when i woke up this morning there was no milk of course because i just got in last night :) but i did have the foresigu to grab a few coffee creamers at the airport. .so yes thats coffee that my cereal is swimming around in. .not that bad really since i used a ton of cream :)

you should have seen me today, trying to lug two HUGE suitcases all over hawaii, by myself.  AND the airline was so kind as to BREAK the wheel on one of them for me.  So it keeps falling over when I try to pull/drag it.  NOW i have to try to figure out how i can fix this wheel before I leave. but it’s all good. i’m in hawaii.

But they are so nice here - i was flying from one island to the other, and i had a jar of guava jelly, and APPARENTLY i could hide a BOMB or something in 5 ounces of guava jelly (who knew?), so the inter-island airport security wouldn't let me take it in my carry-on.  But they tried so hard to try to figure out how I could still bring it over - they were going to let me check and extra bag, but the only bag i had was my backpack.  So they were insisting that I could just check in my backpack, and I almost did, but then i realized it could easily come open and i had TWO i-pods, my palm pilot AND my camera inside.  So seeing as how I was about to risk loosing about $900 dollars worth of electronic equipment in order to save a TWO DOLLAR JAR OF JELLY, i decided against it.  But the airport staff - they were so sad for me, that I had to abandon my hawaiian jelly.  Aloha spirit at it's best. . . !
