Today i tried to get rush tickets for The Goat at the Mark Taper. WHAT was I thinking??? They were ALL sold out, and I had already paid for parking But i DID discover that the Music Center is a very nice place to just hang out. Fortunately, I had brought my journal so I sat outside and wrote for a bit. And for just a dollar you can get a cup of some VERY excellent english tea. There was this cool Saxaphone player, playing his heart out. . improvising away. He wasn't half bad. At the end, he was scraping the money out of his case, including small change. I felt for him, so I went up and handed him a bill. . ."poor college student" i said, apologizing for the fact that i was giving so little. . and he said: " no problem: straving musician" (inwardly i thought that this was great minimalist dialogue. ) I asked him if he was there every Saturday, and he said yeah, at least until he gets a gig. Man, it's tough for musicians. . .
So maybe i wasted five bucks on parking, but sitting there watching the dancing fountains and listening to a live sax player. . it wasn't half bad.

I could kick myself for missing The Goat though. Bummer.
